The percentage error in a, b, c, d is 1%, 3%, 4% and 2% respectively. What is the percentage error in the quantity P.
Solution
% error in P
= % error in a3 + % error in b2 + % error in √c + % error in d
∴ % error in P = 3 × 1% + 2 × 3% + 12 × 4% + 1 × 2%
∴ % error in P = 13%
