Polarization Of Light-Malu's Law
Advertisements
Description:
Malu’s law states that, when a completely polarized light emitted from a polariser falls over a polaroid which is used as an analyser, the intensity of the light transmitted by the analyser is directly proportional to the cosine of angle between the polariser and the analyser.
I ∝ Cos2θ
I = I0 Cos2θ
Where,
I = Intensity of light transmitted by analyser,
I0 = Maximum intensity of polarized light (Constant),
θ = Angle between polarizer and analyzer.
When θ = 450, then the intensity is reduced to half of the actual intensity of polarized light.
