Failure of Wave- Theory

Description:

Reasons for the failure of wave-theory

  • Wave-theory states that energy is proportionate to amplitude but by experiment we can observe that energy by light which is given to electron is not proportionate to its amplitude (intensity).

  • Wave-theory gives the concept of wave-front assuming its true we should have observed that with wave-front many electrons should come out together but this does not happen ion the experiment.

  • According to wave-theory there should be a time lag between radiation and ejection of electron due to energy given by wave-fronts but in our experiment there is no time lag.

  • Wave-theory is unable to explain the concept of threshold frequency.
