Description:
- All the ray diagrams are drawn with incident light travelling from left to right.
- All the distances are measured from pole of the mirror.
- Pole is taken as origin and principle axis is taken as x-axis.
- Distance measured to the left of pole of mirror are regarded as negative and those to the right are regarded as positive.
- Distances measured above the principle axis are taken positive and those below are taken negative.
Conclusions from sign convention
- Object distance is negative.
- Radius of curvature is negative.
- Focal length is negative.
- Image distance can be positive or negative.
