The changes in a cell that occurs during the G2 phase of interphase are as follows −
- Known as G2 - phase or Gap –II or Post-synthetic or Pre-mitotic phase or second growth phase.
- Synthesis of DNA stops.
- Synthesis of spindle proteins.
- Formation of three types of RNA namely t-RNA, r-RNA and m-RNA.
- Synthesis and storage of ATP molecules.
- Duplication of mitochondria and plastids.
- Damaged DNA is repaired in this stage.
