Description:

The changes a cell undergoes during anaphase I are as follows −

  • Separation of homologous chromosomes.
  • Homologous chromosome start moving towards opposite poles.
  • Each tetrad is divided into two dyads.
  • Anaphase-I involves reduction of chromosome number. This phenomenon is called disjunction.
  • The shape of the separating chromosome may be rod or J or V-shaped.
  • The shape of the separating chromosome depends on the position of centromere.
