Leaves can be of three different types simple and compound leaves. The characteristics of simple and compound leaves are as follows −
Simple Leaf
- Presence of single leaf lamina.
- In incised leaves, incisions do not touch the midrib.
Compound Leaf
- The incisions of the lamina reach up to the midrib also called rachis.
- Forms a number of leaflets.
Types of Compound leaf
Pinnately Compound leaf − A number of leaflets are present on a common axis, the rachis.
Palmately compound leaf − Leaflets are attached to a common point.
