Fleshy Adventitious Roots
Tuberous roots − Do not assume a definite shape. Occur singly. E.g. Sweet potato.
Fasciculated roots − Swollen roots occur in clusters. E.g. Dahlia.
Prop root
- Large pillar like roots appearing from large horizontal branches. E.g. Banyan.
- They grow downward and enter into the soil.
- They provide support.
Stilt root
- Roots appear from the basal node near the soil.
- Grow downward and fix the stem with the soil to provide extra support.
