Aurora-Borealis is a natural phenomenon that occurs on the north and south pole of the earth due to the interaction of particles from outer space with the Earth’s magnetic field.
Earth has a magnetic field that is in the north-south direction. When the dust particles released from the sun enters the earth’s magnetic field, they get trapped in the magnetic field and it starts moving in helical path in the field.
When a huge number of particles move in the field, they collide with each other and get lighted up due to the heat from the collision. These lighted particles form a pattern in the sky which is called Aurora-Borealis.
