Description:

Magnetic Field Lines

Magnetic field lines are always an imaginary closed loop that has no starting and ending point.

The direction of magnetic field lines outside the magnet is from the North pole of a bar magnet to the South pole and inside the magnet from the South pole to the North pole.

At any point the tangent on line shows the direction of magnetic field at that point. The crowding of lines shows strength of magnetic field.

No two magnetic field lines intersect each other and they always repel each other, this is known as Lateral Repulsion.

Magnetic field lines always act as stretched strings that have a desire to compress, hence there is an attraction between North and South pole of magnet.
