Published on:  on 10th Apr, 2018

Description:

If the particle enters the Magnetic field B at an angle θ,  then charge particle moves in helix.

As the velocity of the charge enters at an angle ‘θ’, it splits in two components – vertical component (Vsinθ) and horizontal component (Vcosθ),  hence it moves in circular path while moving forward at the same time creating a helical structure.

Helical Structure

Time period of one revolution is given by -

T =
2πmsinθ/qB

Pitch of helix is given by -

PH =
πmVsin2θ/qB
