Description:

Protists are microscopic organisms having a eukaryotic cell structure. Cell is surrounded by plasmalemma (cell membrane). Protists may have an outer covering of pellicle, cuticle, shell or cellulose wall.

Protists contains membrane bound organelles and they have 80S ribosomes.

Photosynthetic forms of protists contain chloroplast with internal thylakoids. Cilia and flagella occur in a number of forms. Nucleus has a membrane covering called the nuclear envelope. This nuclear envelope has pores over it.
