Multiplication of Virus - Lysogenic Cycle

Description:
Lysogenic cycle is associated with replication of temperate phages (prophage). In this type of cycle, the viral genome become associated with the host genome. This phenomenon is called lysogeny. The cycle of the temperate phages is called the lysogenic cycle.
The bacterium which harbours the phage is called lysogenic bacterium.
The phage DNA is replicated along with the bacterial genome.
UV radiation and presence of hydrogen peroxide may cause excision of the prophage from bacterial genome and convert into virulent state. This process of conversion is called induction.
