Description:

Slime moulds exhibit characteristics of both animals and fungi hence called fungus-animals. They do not have chlorophyll.

The cell is surrounded by plasma membrane only. Slime moulds live amongst decaying vegetation and they exhibit wide range of colouration.

Reproduction can be both sexual and asexual. Slime moulds represent both protozoa and true fungi. They are like protozoa in amoeboid plasmodial stage and similar to fungi in spore formation.
