Concept of Electric field Lines

Description:

Electric field is an effect in the space due to which a charge experiences force whereas electric Field lines are the graphical representation of the electric field. These are imaginary lines which do not have any real existence. It is only a pictorial representation which describes the relative strength and direction of electric field at a particular point.

We know that electric field is a vector quantity which has −

• Magnitude
• Direction

Both the factors can be represented by making graph or graphical lines, which will show the strength and the direction of electric field at a particular point.

Electric field lines − are the imaginary lines which represents electric field at a location.
