Electric Field Introduction
Description:
An electric charge has a characteristic of attracting or repelling other charged particles in its vicinity.
If there is a source charge(Q) and a test charge(q) is brought near it, then the source charge(Q) either repels the charge q in the direction away from itself (if Q and q are similar in nature) or attracts it in the direction towards itself (if Q and q are opposite in nature). The force exerted is in the same line joining the two charges.
A charged particle exerts force on another charge due to its effect in space. So the entire region where a charge shows its effect is called its field.
Electric Field −
Electric field is an effect in the space due to which a charge experiences force.
