Description:

The concentration density of electric field lines shows the relative strength of electric field at a point.

In the figure below, the electric field strength at point D is maximum because more number of electric field lines are passing through it. Whereas the electric field strength at point C is minimum because very less number of electric field line is passing through it.

This is how the relative strength of electric field is decided.

  • More the number of electric field lines through a point, more will be the electric field strength at that point.

  • Less the number of electric field lines through a point, less will be the electric field strength at that point.
