Properties of Electric Charges

Advertisements

Description:

Additivity

If a body is given some charges, then, some charges are again added or removed from the same body then in order to calculate net charge on the body, all the charges are added up algebraically. So we can say that the electric charge follow law of addition.

Note

  • Charges can be added together (Provided they are on the same body).
  • Electric charge is a scalar quantity so it follows algeleric addition.

Ex.: If a body has got +22 charge and if 10 electron are added to it,

Then, total charges on the body will be

(+22) + (-10) = + 12
