Electric Field Lines Shape for Uniform Field

Description:

If lines of electric field is drawn at any point in space, then these lines are in shape as shown in figure −

• They are parallel in direction
• Distance between each lines of field is same

These lines represents electric field which has got two features −

• Direction of tangent at every point is same
• Intensity of electric field at every point is same

The field which has these two properties are called uniform electric field.

Note − These uniform field lines can be found in 2 cases

• If source is very much far away
• By a sheet of charge
