Electronic Displacement Effects - Introduction

Description:
In an organic reaction, there are at least 3 components −
- Substrate
- Attacking reagent
- Product
Reaction mechanism − It is the sequential account of each step, describing the electron movement, energetics during bond cleavage and bond formation, and rates of transformation of reactants into products (kinetics).
Electronic displacement effects take place −
Either in ground state under the influence of an atom or a substituent group causing permanent polarization of bond (inductive effect and resonance).
Or in the presence of an attacking reagent, resulting in temporary polarization (electromeric effect).
